With Dayforce’s flagship event in Las Vegas just around the corner, we sat down with Faisal Hawa, Global VP of our Dayforce Practice, to talk about what makes this year so special – for Lavasource, for our customers and for the future of HR, payroll and technology transformation.

From what’s trending in the North American market to what you can expect from us on the ground (yes, our booth will be well worth the stop!) – here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming.

Faisal, why is this year’s Dayforce Discover such a big moment for Lavasource and our customers?

The timing’s perfect. So many of our customers are thinking about what’s next – better employee experiences, smarter workflows and more intuitive systems. This event brings all that thinking into focus.

It’s also a rare chance to really listen. Discover brings together so many of our customers and partners – not just to hear what’s new, but to share what they need. We’re here to be part of that journey and help shape the next steps.

What are you looking forward to the most at this year’s event?

The conversations. The energy. The face-to-face moments. Having a physical presence means we get to connect directly with customers in a more human way – answer their questions, learn from their stories, and talk about real challenges and real solutions.

We’re not just showing up for visibility, we’re showing up to be useful. We want our space to feel welcoming, familiar and full of possibilities. That’s what excites me most.

I’m also really looking forward to the breakout session with Becky from Canal & River Trust. It’s a chance to share a real-world transformation story and highlight what’s possible when technology and people come together in the right way. Should be a great conversation.

What’s the biggest challenges you see right now in HR and payroll transformation?

Honestly? Speed and complexity. Tech is moving fast, and systems are getting more connected, but that also means more moving parts. At the same time, everyone’s trying to simplify and create great employee experiences.

We always start with data. It tells the real story, helps shape better decisions and keeps the transformation grounded in reality – not just aspiration.

What trends are shaping customer priorities?

Simplification is huge. Fewer systems, smoother experiences, more transparency. Customers also want to scale without friction and they’re looking for partners who bring both structure and flexibility. That’s where we come in. Our work blends best practice with adaptability, and that’s what helps organisations move with clarity and confidence.

What would you say to customers attending Discover who are mid-transformation or unsure about next steps?

Bring your challenges and your real questions with you. The best conversations start with honesty and that’s exactly what this event is for. We’re here to listen, make things simpler, and give you a sounding board that’s grounded in real experience. You don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Quick one to wrap up – when you’re not deep in transformation talk, what’s something people might not know about you?

I once tried to take a peaceful stroll down the Strip to clear my head between meetings, not realising that walking in Vegas is practically a red flag. A police car actually pulled up next to me and the officer leaned out and asked, “You okay, sir?”. I told him I was just walking to get some fresh air, and he looked at me totally serious and said, “Next time… take a taxi.”

Lesson learned. Also – I always walk past the McLaren dealership and think one day. Still dreaming but hey, transformation’s all about long-term goals, right?

We’re counting down the days to Vegas and can’t wait to connect with our fantastic customers, partners and peers at what promises to be an incredible event. If you’re attending and want to learn more about how we’re helping businesses unlock the full value of Dayforce, or just fancy a chat, come find us at the Lavasource Booth. You can also see us on stage alongside Canal and River Trust in the Breakout Session 8 October, 11:30-12:15.
