As one of the UK’s leading residential developers, Taylor Wimpey is no stranger to building strong foundations. The time had come to look beyond their legacy payroll system and explore a future-ready alternative. At the same time, their wider HR landscape was fragmented across multiple platforms, driving up maintenance costs, creating integration challenges, and limiting the ability to streamline processes or reporting. The priority was clear – ensure employees continued to be paid seamlessly while laying the groundwork for a modern, unified HR system that could support the business for years to come.

Lavasource partnered with Taylor Wimpey from the very beginning, guiding them through the RFI (Request for Information) and vendor selection process to ensure the best fit for their needs. Taylor Wimpey chose SAP SuccessFactors for its comprehensive functionality, and Lavasource for our ability to combine consulting with hands-on, client-side delivery. With long-standing relationships and practitioner expertise, we were able to work seamlessly alongside their team to keep the project on track.

Lavasource first supported Taylor Wimpey in building their business case and selecting the right solution. Phase 1 saw implementation of Payroll, Recruitment and Onboarding – delivered on time and to scope. Phase 2 is now extending functionality across Learning, Performance, Succession, Compensation and Service Centre – creating a truly unified HR platform.

Lavasource’s role extended beyond implementation. Acting client-side, we ensured integrations reduced manual effort, automated data flows, and established SuccessFactors as the single source of truth.

Key improvements included:

  • Automating transfers of employee benefits, previously handled manually each payroll cycle.
  • Integrating with Active Directory for stronger governance and security.
  • Building in CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) compliance logic to automatically calculate complex allowances and reduce manager intervention.

The Future

With Phase 2 underway, Taylor Wimpey is on track to have a full suite of SAP SuccessFactors modules in place by the end of 2025. Beyond that, they are already exploring integration with a CRM system to strengthen governance and streamline sales incentive processes, further aligning HR with their overall business strategy.
