Business Challenge

With just a small HR team supporting a largely field-based workforce, M6toll was carrying a disproportionately heavy administrative load. Their legacy HR and payroll systems had been set up in a very basic way, with little integration, leaving much of the day-to-day work reliant on manual effort. 

Key challenges included: 

  • Heavy reliance on spreadsheets to manage core HR and payroll data. 
  • Payroll disconnected from HR, creating duplicate effort and risk of errors. 
  • Manual handling of absence, benefits and compliance checks. 
  • No employee self-service options, limiting engagement and accessibility for staff. 
  • Only one FTE dedicated to payroll processing. 
  • Added complexity of aligning with global parent company Aleatica’s system requirements. 

The outcome was inefficient, error-prone processes that drained HR capacity and left little room to focus on strategic or value-added activities. 

Our Approach

M6toll turned to Lavasource for end-to-end guidance and delivery. With limited in-house capacity, they needed more than just an implementation partner – they required a trusted team who could take ownership of the project while keeping them fully engaged in key decisions. 

M6toll’s requirements from Lavasource included: 

  • Running a full market assessment and managing the RFP process. 
  • Coordinating with vendors and parent company Aleatica to align requirements. 
  • Leading data preparation, system configuration and deployment activities.
  • Driving the project forward on M6toll’s behalf, while ensuring their HR team were actively involved in testing and sign-off. 
  • Providing vendor assurance during payroll outsourcing with EY, including multiple parallel runs to mitigate any risk to employee pay. 
  • Zero error tolerance to employee pay and experience. 

This “complete service package” meant M6toll could implement modern, integrated systems confidently – without overstretching their small HR function.
